  1. I read your blog and I love that you are a leader on Natural Living, integrating food, beauty and green-living into wholeness! Please share with our readers what inspired your blog life-style journey?

For a number of years, I have had an interest in all things natural--from hair to diet to an overall wholistic lifestyle. I have attended a myriad of workshops and classes on alternative health and natural beauty, as well as read everything I can on these subjects. People who were familiar with my passion would often ask me for recipes or advice on improving their health.  After becoming somewhat of a consultant for friends, family and colleagues, I became inspired to share what I have learned thus far with the (virtual) world.

  2. As you know Naturi Beauty embraces the experiences of women with natural hair, what has been your experience having had natural hair abroad?

In my travels outside of the States--particularly throughout the Caribbean and Canada--my hair has never been an issue, because natural hair is not an anomaly in the areas I was in. My hair has only been a topic of discussion in the U.S., and even here the questions I encounter arise more out of curiosity than judgement. I wear my natural hair with confidence (and encourage others to do the same) so the feedback I have received is overwhelmingly positive.

  3. I read your post about Eat Whole Foods, Save Your Whole Paycheck.  Besides the affordability factor, what else do you consider challenges to Natural Living and how do you embrace the imbalance of it all?

  4. That is an excellent question. I think the two biggest challenges are societal and psychological. To illustrate: My family is originally from the South. When I was younger, our extended family gatherings were replete with fried, greasy soul food. It can certainly be an adjustment when you try to transition to a healthier diet, especially when your memories are connected to the comfort foods of your past. People also experience a fear of eating healthy, as they suspect they are resigned to an eternity of eating sprouts and tofu. No way! As your own culinary delights show, eating wholesome, fresh foods can be a sensory, pleasure inducing experience. I encourage people to step into the unknown and face these challenges, because the benefits of natural living are immeasurable.

  5. Your blog is inspiring and I am thrilled that someone else "gets it"! Natural Living is more than a cool green idea, it's a Lifestyle journey.  What are your plans for All Day Natural in 2010 and can we expect to see you speaking at an event or doing Lifestyle Demos anytime soon?

I am honored by your gracious words. As it relates to the blog, I will be adding new features to the site like a "Healthy Travels" directory so you can stay natural wherever you are, along with a "Resources" page to assist people along their lifestyle journey. I have conducted healthy eating workshops and live food demonstrations locally and will continue to meet and connect with others to spread the joys of natural living. This year has brought so many amazing people and extraordinary opportunities in my life. I know that there are more outstanding things to come.

  6. The Naturi Beauty charge is to Nourish, Nurture and Grow.  Please share with our readers how Miss Lycia  of All Day Natural is a Naturi Beauty everyday!

Nourish: Each day, I make an intent to do something I enjoy, something as simple as listening to positive music or eating lunch in the park.
Nurture: I strive to nurture my connections with family and friends, to let them know how important they are to me. It isn't always easy, but I try not to get so consumed in the responsibilities of work and home that I neglect those who are dearest to my heart.
Grow: "Always walk through life as if you have something new to learn and you will." I heard that quotation once, and it resonated with me. I eagerly seek to learn as much as I can each day, not just from books but from my daily routine.  Everyday I am amazed at the people I meet and experiences I have that motivate and stimulate my spiritual and intellectual growth.
